9780615449838 English 0615449832 Silence In Heaven And The Butter-Woman And Other Wayside Stories are all short fictional stories originally written in the late 1800s by William McFarland whose pen name was Wayside. Thus I am putting his pen name of Wayside on all the writings by Wayside that I am turning into a book. William McFarland was one of my great, great, great grandpas on my father's side of the family. William McFarland was a writer as well as a school teacher and he was also a Union officer in the United States Civil War. It was William McFarland's original goal to have his stories and poems which he wrote published in book form but he did not live long enough to do so. It seems I was the one chosen to do just that. With the fast speed of the internet, imaging and home computers, now it is easier to accomplish this task. I only wish that he could see and know that his writings are finally being printed into book form by his family. Wayside has waited a very long time for his fictional stories and poems to be made into a book. This book is part of a series or collections of short stories and poetry written by Wayside and thus it is part of the WAYSIDE STORIES series of books. Since I was the one that was doing the genealogy of my family years ago and was contacting the various family members, I learned of William McFarland's 'Wayside' writings. Being the family historian I am, I had to find them Fortunately for me and my family I was able to find the relative that had last protected them and they were given to me to protect and preserve as well as type. The original writings of this book has been a family heirloom and was handed down from one generation to another for over a hundred years since its original writings by WILLIAM MCFARLAND whose pen name was WAYSIDE and now I feel it is time for others to also enjoy these fictional short stories and fictional poems. My family has kept hidden and protected these stories for over 123 years, and now I have printed them in a book form for others of the family as well as the general public to read and enjoy. May they never be hidden again. William McFarland lived in the United States of America from 1823 to 1887 and so you know that all of these stories and poems in the WAYSIDE STORIES series of books were all written PRIOR to or in the year 1887 So why was their silence in heaven and who was the butter woman? What happened to the butter woman? Or was it even Heaven? This is only one of the stories in this book. Some of these stories are about American patriotism and some are about American history and some are about religion and American politics in the late 1800s. These are thought provoking, fictional stories that make one think. It is quite unique that these words were written over 123 years ago and hidden and kept safe by my family as some of it could have been written yesterday. A wonder these words were not lost or destroyed. The following fictional short stories are included in this book, SILENCE IN HEAVEN AND THE BUTTER-WOMAN AND OTHER WAYSIDE STORIES: The Deacon's Prayer For Blaine's Sake Devotion A Prayer Moses Obituary Silence In Heaven And The Butter-Woman Love of Money Early Rising Temperance What Is Christianity?
